The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday took its campaign train to Tambuwal town, home front of sitting Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal amidst overwhelming ovation by mammoth crowd of supporters expressing their unprecedented loyalty to the opposition party led by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
“Gaba dai, gaba dai APC, Baba Buhari zabin Allah, Zabin kowa! baya baya PDP!”, meaning: ” Forward ever APC. President Buhari is God’s choice and everyone’s choice! Backward ever PDP”, were the slogans intermittently renting the air.
Similar slogans from women and men, young and old supporters of APC some kilometers to Tambuwal town kept thrilling the busy road.
Speaking while presenting flags to candidates of the party in the zone, Senator Wamakko noted that APC in the state was fast spreading by the day in the state.
According to the chairman Northern Senators Forum” we have every cause to thank God for the overwhelming support we receive ahead of the elections we hope to emerge victorious. I and other party chieftains appreciate the support of people of Tambuwal”, he said.
Candidates presented with the party’s flag included Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Tambuwa for Sokoto south Senatorial seat, Hon. Bala Kokane( Tambuwal/ Kebbe), Rep. Aliyu A.A.( Bodinga/ Dange- Shuni/ Tureta) and Abubakar Umar Danbukari(Yabo/Shagari) Federal Constituencies of Sokoto state.
Also, the party’s gubernatorial candidate and immediate past deputy governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto who was flanked by his running mate, Hon. Farouk Malami Yabo, while recalling the past government of Wamakko, noted that Sokoto state benefitted a lot through the landmark projects he executed which he assured would be sustained if given the mandate at the polls.
According to Aliyu Sokoto “We are very much aware of the disturbing level of infrastructure deficit experienced in the state and failure to allow space for LGs to perform by the PDP government.
“We will reverse the negative trends that have in the past four years stagnated development in the state if elected”, he assured.
Former Commissioner for Works and Sokoto southern Senatorial zone campaign coordinator, Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal said APC remain the party to beat in Tambuwal and Sokoto state, stressing that ” we are resilient and will continue to support Senator Wamakko and President Buhari and all APC candidates in the state to victory for the ‘Next Level’.”
Nagwari who is a political pillar in Tambuwal town urged Sokoto people not to allow corrupt to lead them in any guise, adding that” use your PVC as weapon to vote people with integrity, vision and who abhor corruption in its entirety for change to the Next Level.”
Nagwari further noted that President Buhari remain the best choice for Nigerians in the current era that the country was desirous of leaders with trust, integrity and could manage and protect resource from the corrupt politicians for the development of all.
He however while commending Wamakko for his unequal developmental projects while as governor, the former Commissioner said he was convinced that if elected into office, APC government would rekindle the lost hope of Sokoto people in the present PDP reigns.
Accordingly, Nagwari donated 9 vehicles and 11 motorcycles for distribution to party members for logistics and other party activities across Tambuwal LG.
The state APC Chairman, Alhaji Sadiq Isah Achida said the party was campaigning on issues rather than trivialities targetted at personalities.
He acknowledged the unprecedented support of Tambuwal people to the Wamakko led campaign train explaining that it was a testimony that the lawmaker made a home coming, noting that it translated to the fact that Wamakko performed creditably in Tambuwal.
“It is evident that he constructed roads and schools, provided hospitals, boreholes and electricity while in office as governor”, he enumerated.
He also reminded the people of Tambuwal that Wamakko was the brain behind picking Governor Tambuwal as his successor against all odds.
“This singular act of love is a rare privilege that should also be reciprocated by Tambuwal people whom we know will support APC.”
However, the party received a number of defectors who left PDP at the campaign venue.
