A group, the Ogun Patriotic Front, has called on the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade, not to challenge the result of the March 9 election in court.

The group made the call in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital, by its Executive Director, Dr Ibikunle Oredipe, on Wednesday.

Oredipe urged Akinlade to accept the result of the poll and congratulate the governor -elect, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress.

He said the result of the election showed Abiodun’s wide acceptance in the 20 local government areas of the state.

He urged Akinlade to reciprocate the hand of fellowship extended by the governor-elect to other contestants, saying that “only one candidate can emerge as the winner from the poll and become the governor.”

He said, “We hereby call on the APM candidate to call off his plan to challenge the result of the governorship election in the court.

“We urge him to join other leading contestants like Senator Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party and Gboyega Isiaka of the African Democratic Congress  who have already accepted the result and congratulated the governor-elect.”
