Lies told by a wife identified as Margret Namukose, has been busted after her husband lodged a complaint with the police.
It was gathered that the lady had on 7th June 2018, told her husband that she was scheduled to attend a school meeting at Kasangati in Uganda. However she never returned back home and efforts to reach her through her phone were futile. The husband who was struck with anxiety, however received a call from his wife telling him that unknown men had kidnapped, raped her and dumped her in a certain forest.
After her husband lodged a complaint at Kyebando Police Post, the police started to search for her by tracing her phone and the location it gave was Kampala, Uganda.
The lady who returned home on June 8th 2018 by 11:00am, was brought to police by the husband. She allegedly told the police that she had rescued herself and went to a nearby clinic for a check-up. Police went with Namukose to the clinic but there was no record of her visit.
Upon further questioning she confessed that all this time the police were searching for her, she had not been kidnapped, but was enjoying herself in Serena Hotel with her new boyfriend. Namukose is currently detained at Kira Road Police Station and is to be arraigned before courts of law on charges of giving false information.
Few days ago, it was also reported that a woman was sentenced to one year in jail or a fine of Shs300,000 ($2,967) for faking her own kidnap, ostensibly to test her husband’s love for her. The Ugandan woman, Aminah Mirembe, 23, is a resident of Nakawa, a Kampala suburb. She appeared at City Hall Court presided over by magistrate Patrick Talisuna and admitted to faking her own kidnap, reports Daily Monitor on Tuesday.
“The convict is hereby sentenced to a fine of Shs300,000 and in defaulting, she should be imprisoned for one year,” said the magistrate.
