World Cup 2018: Mourinho speaks on Mario Mandzukic

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has hailed Croatia’s World Cup hero, Mario Mandzukic.

The 32-year-old Juventus striker, netted the winner in extra-time last night to knock England out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It means that Croatia will be meeting France in the final on Sunday (4 pm).

Mandzukic took advantage as England’s back four fell asleep to put Croatia ahead in the 109th minute.

England failed to create any clear-cut chances after going behind as their World Cup dreams were shattered.

Mandzukic has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks, with the Red Devils boss, Mourinho said to be a big admirer of the hitman.

It has been claimed that Mandzukic could leave Juve this summer following Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning move to the Serie A.

Mourinho has hailed the United target, Mandzukic after Croatia’s 2-1 win against England, claiming the striker proved his worth when it mattered.

He said, “Mandzukic was having a game under his level, he was very, very tired but the chance appeared and he put the ball in the net.”

United boss, Mourinho is keen to spend big this summer to challenge Manchester City this season.

The Red Devils watched their arch-rivals snatched away the Premier League title last season as Pep Guardiola’s men broke the 100-point barrier for the first time.

Mourinho has been busy in this transfer window, signing Diogo Dalot, Lee Grant and Fred.
