At least 104 Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza since the battle between Israel and Hamas began on 27 October, 2023.

This was disclosed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which announced the death of another soldier on Monday.

The IDF said this bring the total number of reported soldiers killed in Gaza to 104.

The IDF said on Monday that the soldier had died from wounds sustained three weeks ago. It follows an earlier announcement that three other Israeli soldiers had died.

The Israeli strikes have killed at least 18,205, the Hamas-run health ministry in the enclave said on Monday.

CNN quoted the IDF as saying that it struck more than 22,000 targets in Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, when more than 240 people were taken hostage and around 1,200 people were killed.

Meanwhile, Israel has continued its bombardment of Gaza, with the main focus on Khan Younis in the south. There’s also been fighting in Rafah near the Egyptian border, according to the BBC.

The US is “pressing” the Israeli government to “[put] a premium on civilian life”, a state department spokesman has said.

Nathaniel Tek said clearer instructions are needed to allow people to move away from the conflict – though he said Hamas too has a responsibility to protect civilians.

In Jenin in the occupied West Bank, at least four people have been killed – witnesses say they were hit by a drone strike.
