Tribunal affirms Aiyedatiwa’s election in Ondo
The Ondo State governorship election petitions tribunal sitting in Akure on Wednesday upheld Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s victory in last year’s election in the state.
Five political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidates, are challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of Aiyewatiwa as the winner of the November 16, 2024, governorship election in the state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate polled 366,781 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Ajayi Agboola, who scored 117,845 votes in the election.
The other parties that contested the outcome of the election are the Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The three-member panel led by Justice Benson Ogubu dismissed the petitions for lack of merit.
The tribunal held that the allegations of massive irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act raised by the petitioners cannot be substantiated.
The panel also dismissed the petition on alleged discrepancies in vote entries in Form EC8A.
