“Whimsically autocratic” – ADC spokesman slams Tinubu over Rivers emergency rule
The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his handling of the Rivers state political crisis.
Abdullahi said Tinubu acted beyond his constitutional powers by suspending and reinstating Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers.
The ADC spokesman wrote on X: “The only governor that President Tinubu has the power to fire and hire is Yemi Cardoso. He does not have that power over a state governor.
He described Tinubu’s actions as “whimsically autocratic” and “self-serving”.
He added: “President Tinubu must not be allowed to disguise political brinkmanship as statesmanship.
“The suspension of the Rivers governor was self-serving, remains unconstitutional, and would define President Tinubu’s political legacy.”
