As It Stands in Nigeria Today, There Are Only 3 Political Parties: Peter Obi, APC, PDP of Blessed Memory — Acapella
Popular Nigerian comedian, Acapella, stirred major political conversation on X (formerly Twitter) today after declaring that Nigeria now has only three political entities with real influence: APC, PDP “of blessed memory,” and Peter Obi.
“As it stands in Nigeria today, there are only 3 political party’s. APC. PDP of blessed memory. Peter Obi. The rest na get together,” Acapella posted, suggesting that Obi has grown beyond party lines to become a political institution on his own.
The post quickly gained traction, prompting an outpouring of agreement from users who see Peter Obi not just as a politician, but as a symbol of the opposition movement and a challenge to the establishment.
@Deekdesmara replied, “At this point, it’s clear APC, the ghost of PDP, and Peter Obi have the real political weight. The rest? Just vibes and attendance.”
Another user, @Olus1542789, praised Obi’s rise despite lacking traditional political machinery, “Peter has no structure but his voice is echoed like a THUNDER, his speeches cause panics and fear in the enemies camp. A man of the moment without spending shishi on obedient, that’s a true leader.”
Referencing the aftermath of the 2023 general elections, @aniemeka1 wrote: “Peter Obi has since then become even bigger than the ruling party. He has become the only obstacle for the ambitions of the people in power.”
Supporters also identified with the symbolic “third party” Acapella alluded to. “I’m a full bonafide member of the 3rd party,” said @DANNYMAJOR926. Meanwhile, @ShadrachAU18227 accused other political groups of being proxies for the ruling party, writing, “The rest are being manipulated by APC.”
Acapella’s post reflects a broader sentiment that has taken hold among many Nigerians disillusioned with both APC’s leadership under Tinubu and the collapse of PDP’s political identity. It also signals how Peter Obi’s grassroots support and issue-driven persona have helped elevate him beyond conventional party boundaries.
