Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced that Thursday and Friday will be observed as statewide work-free days to allow residents to participate fully in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
According to a statement from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the work-free days are meant to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to visit their polling units and cast their ballots.
The SSG further noted that markets, banks, public offices, and other financial institutions will remain closed, and the movement of people and vehicles will be limited, except for those performing essential duties.
“The government urges citizens to turn out in large numbers and exercise their civic duties on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
“This election presents Nigerlites with another chance to choose capable leaders who will drive development and represent the interests of the people at the grassroots level,” the SSG stated.
