Taraba APC begins preparation for Gov Kefas’ defection
The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun preparation for the planned defection of Governor Agbu Kefas’ defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Politics Nigeria gathered that APC leaders in the state have been scheduled to meet on Tuesday with some key stakeholders in Taraba to begin discussions on a definite date to formally receive Governor Kefas into the party.
Speaking while addressing some newsmen in Jalingo, the Taraba State chairman of the APC, Ibrahim El-Sudi described the governor’s planned move from PDP to the ruling party is a divine breakthrough.
According to El-Sudi, the APC would be controlling the state without the stress of going to the poll – a quest the party has had for the past 13 years.
“We have been yearning for this for 13 years. God has finally given us the Taraba Government House without going to the polls,” El-Sudi said.
He further stated that the party is planning a grand reception for the governor’s defection which would be attended by President Bola Tinubu and key members of the APC National Working Committee in Jalingo.
El-Sudi added that some stakeholders and leaders of the party from the Northeast zone will also be in attendance.
In addition, the APC state chairman said the party leaders had participated in a meeting in Abuja with Governor Kefas to perfect plans for his defection.
“He has met those who matter – from the President to the national chairman. He was advised to engage with the APC structure in Taraba, and we are ready to welcome him.
“As a democratic party, our doors are open. Anyone who wishes to contest for the governorship under the APC platform is free to do so,” El-Sudi added.
