Senator Ned Nwoko Plots With Nigerian Police To Arraign Mother Of Estranged Wife, Regina Daniels, Force Them To Apologise
A serving Senator, Ned Nwoko and the Nigerian police have been accused of collaborating to intimidate family members of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, insisting they apologise and facilitate her return to a rehabilitation center in Abuja.
The plot was made public on Friday by fiery human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, who noted that following his intervention in Regina’s case, the senator and police authorities began threatening members of her family.
According to Sowore, the threats included plans to arrest and arraign Regina’s mother, with the intention of summarily committing her to prison.
He condemned what he described as “cash and carry” police hierarchy including the “illegally appointed” IGP Kayode Egbetokun under whose watch the impunities are carried out.
The former presidential candidate said, “After our intervention this morning, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and his police collaborators have commenced threatening Regina Daniels’ family members, insisting they apologise and facilitate her return to rehab in Abuja.
“He is also planning to arraign her mother and summarily commit her to prison. We must all stand firm against his impunity and that of our cash and carry police hierarchy including the illegally appointed IGP under whose watch these impunities are carried out #FreeSammieWestNow,” Sowore added.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Sowore accused Senator Nwoko and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of orchestrating the alleged unlawful imprisonment of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West — the younger brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
In a statement posted on his social media handle, Sowore alleged that Nwoko, whom he described as a “so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator,” used his influence in collaboration with the police chief to have Sammy West unjustly detained at the Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State.
“I have again been informed that the so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator, Prince Ned Nwoko @Prince_NedNwoko, has used his influence, working hand-in-glove with the illegal Inspector General of @nigeriapoliceforce, Kayode Egbetokun, to have a young man unjustly imprisoned at the notorious Keffi prison.
“The victim in this latest act of tyranny is Samuel Ojeogwu aka “Sammy West @samm ,” the younger brother of Nwoko’s “now-temporarily estranged wife”, @reginadaniels ,” Sowore said.
He described the incident as another example of “the unholy alliance of impunity between Senator Ned Nwoko, sections of the Nigeria Police Force, and some pliant magistrates,” accusing them of perpetuating injustice despite public outcry against their alleged excesses.
“It is deeply unfortunate that the unholy alliance of impunity between Senator @Prince_NedNwoko , sections of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG , and some pliant magistrates continues to thrive despite our persistent challenge to their lawlessness.”
Sowore called on the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to immediately end what he termed an act of brigandage and to withdraw the bogus charges against Sammy West.
“I therefore call on the Nigeria Police Force authorities to immediately put an end to this brigandage and to release Sammy West forthwith by withdrawing the bogus charges levelled against him,” he added. (SaharaReporters)
