NAF smoke out terrorists in Borno, Katsina, Kwara states
The Nigerian Air Force has dealt an onslaught against scores of terrorists operating in three different states in Nigeria – Borno, Kwara and Katsina.
The spokesperson for NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the terrorists were killed in three different airstrikes over the weekend.
According to Ejodame, the airstrikes also led to the destruction of arms and weapons belonging to the insurgents around the Lake Chad area of Borno State.
He said the operation was conducted with precision around the southeast of Shuwaram before shifting to Mallam Fatori after the terrorists were observed mobilising with motorcycles and boats along the region.
The statement added that a post-operation assessment by NAF indicates that multiple insurgents and their networks were degraded around the area.
Noting that all the airstrikes were carried out simultaneously, Ejodame said the bandit camps suffered devastating attacks in Garin Dandi and Chigogo in Kwara State following the air operation by troops under the Operation FANSAN YAMMA who also struck the Zango Hill in Katsina.
Ejodame added that during the air operation, coordination with Forward Operating Bases at Dankolo and Kotonkoro showed the suspicious movement of terrorists near the Wam Hill.
He stated that the insurgents were seen fleeing on motorcycles attempting to flee the area.
“The aircrew swiftly engaged and neutralised the targets, with no further hostile activity observed,” he said.
Also attributing the success achieved by the air troops to the directives of the newly appointed Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Ejodame said the NAF has resolved to continue its onslaught against the activities of the insurgents.
“Each mission reaffirms NAF’s resolve to project smarter and intelligence-driven airpower to project purposeful lethality against insurgents and criminals while protecting the lives and properties of citizens towards enhancing national security,” he added.
