JUST IN: Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting With Service Chiefs
President Bola Tinubu has entered a closed-door session with Nigeria’s top military and security heads at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting began earlier today and brought together the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyode; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye.
Also in attendance are the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.
Although the agenda has not been publicly disclosed, the emergency meeting comes at a time when several northern states are battling a fresh wave of kidnappings and coordinated attacks.
Security officials believe the discussions are centred around new strategies to curb the rising incidents and restore calm in the affected communities.
The Presidency has not released an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
