JUST IN: Taraba Gov in Closed-Door Meeting with Tinubu at Presidential Villa
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State is currently holding a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The governor arrived at the State House on Monday alongside the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and proceeded to a closed-door session with the President.
According to Politics Nigeria, this marks Governor Kefas’ first meeting with President Tinubu since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
He was originally scheduled to receive a formal APC welcome on 19 November, but the event was postponed, with Kefas citing that it would be inappropriate to hold a political gathering while Kebbi State was still reeling from the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and 15 lawmakers also defected from the PDP to the APC, citing a desire to align with the federal government and the ongoing crisis within the opposition party at the national level.
As of the time of reporting, further details of the meeting have not been disclosed.
