BREAKING: Wike PDP Faction Expels Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Lawal, Udom, Others
A fresh crisis has erupted in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced the expulsion of several top party figures.
The group released a formal disclaimer on Thursday, stating that the affected individuals have been stripped of every form of recognition within the party.
According to the notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the faction accused the listed members of misrepresenting themselves as officers of the party despite being removed from all positions.
The statement named Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and a long list of other party leaders as no longer valid members of the PDP.
According to the disclaimer, their expulsion was approved during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on November 18, 2025.
The faction said the decision followed allegations of anti-party activities and acts described as gross misconduct, insisting that the disciplinary measures were taken in line with the party’s constitution.
It stressed that members of the public should not engage with or recognise any of the expelled individuals as representatives of the PDP.
The statement further warned that anyone who extends support or legitimacy to those named does so “at his or her own risk,” insisting that the party will not entertain any form of association with them.
The Wike-backed faction also dismissed the convention recently held in Ibadan, describing it as a political gathering with no legal weight.
According to the group, the meeting did not comply with existing court judgments and therefore cannot be regarded as a national convention of the party.
It maintained that any person claiming to have emerged as a national officer from the Ibadan event is “an impostor” and should not be taken seriously.
This latest development deepens the already tense battle for control of the PDP, with rival blocs issuing contradicting claims, suspensions and counter-expulsions in what appears to be a full-blown leadership struggle ahead of 2027.
