Maria Sol Messi, the sister of famous footballer Lionel Messi, has reportedly been hospitalized following a road crash in Miami, United States.

According to available information, Maria Sol crashed the vehicle she was driving in Miami after losing control and hitting a wall.

She is said to have sustained injuries, including spinal fractures and burns, in the crash.

Argentinian TV journalist and presenter, Angel de Brito, who confirmed this, said the crash has resulted in the postponement of her planned wedding.

According to him, Maria Sol sustained multiple injuries in the crash but is now in a stable condition and out of danger.

“Messi’s sister is okay, she’s out of danger but I was checking things with the family because she was due to get married in Rosario in Argentina on January 3 and she’s going to have to suspend it,” De Brito said.

He further disclosed that her recovery would require an extended rehabilitation period.

“She suffered burns and burns are very difficult to treat as well as displacement of vertebrae. She’s already started her rehabilitation in Rosario,” he added.

He also relayed information provided by Maria Sol’s mother, Celia Cuccittini, who confirmed the injuries.

“I asked her mum Celia Cuccittini because I’d received some information and she told me it’s true but that Maria Sol is okay. She has two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist.

“The wedding is going to be put back. Celia told me she fainted and hit a wall,” de Brito said.

The family confirmed that Maria Sol suffered multiple fractures and that the wedding has been postponed.

De Brito said reports about the exact cause of the burns remained unclear, noting that while some information suggested she was driving a pick-up truck, there were also unconfirmed indications that the burns could have resulted from a separate motorbike incident.

Maria Sol was scheduled to marry Julian “Tuli” Arellano, a member of Inter Miami’s under-19 coaching staff, in Rosario on January 3.

She is a clothing designer and entrepreneur and has previously worked as a brand manager at The Messi Store, the fashion brand founded by her brother.

The wedding was expected to be attended by members of the Messi family, including Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, before the accident forced its postponement.
