‘Gear Up, Not Give Up’ Amidst Rivers State Turmoil – Jonathan Tells Fubara
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has advised Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to remain steadfast amidst the ongoing political crisis in the state. Jonathan emphasized that the challenges Fubara is facing are a necessary part of becoming a strong leader, saying, “Nobody becomes a General without fighting wars”.
Jonathan made this statement while attending the 1st Etche Festival of Food, Art and Culture Exhibition in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he received the traditional title of Eze Udo 1 of Etche land. He stressed the importance of peace in Rivers State, noting that the state’s stability has a significant impact on the entire Niger Delta region.
The former president urged the people of Rivers State to support Fubara and ensure the state’s development, emphasizing that the governor’s ability to navigate the current crisis would establish him as a true leader. Fubara has been facing intense political pressure, particularly after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2025.
