Shettima To Visit Plateau Today For Gov Mutfwang’s Reception Into APC
The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that Vice President Kashim Shettima will visit the state on Tuesday (today) for the formal reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the ruling party.
Governor Mutfwang had, on December 29, 2025, tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area.
In the letter, he cited prevailing political realities and his personal commitment to effective leadership and service delivery as reasons for his decision to move to another platform.
Confirming the visit, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, told journalists during a press briefing at the NUJ headquarters on Monday that Vice President Shettima would serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the reception.
Wase said the event would also be attended by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; as well as several governors elected on the platform of the party and other party leaders.
He appealed to residents of the state to be peaceful and welcoming during the event.
He urged party supporters and other residents to conduct themselves responsibly and in line with the law, stressing the need for orderliness and cooperation with security agencies and event officials to ensure a smooth and successful reception.
“We urge residents, party supporters, and well-wishers to conduct themselves peacefully, lawfully, and responsibly, in a manner that reflects the enduring values of unity, civility, and peaceful coexistence for which Plateau State is proudly known.
“This grand reception belongs to all Plateau people, and its success depends largely on our collective commitment to orderliness, mutual respect, and cooperation with security agencies and event officials,” he said. (Daily Trust)
