We’ve no plans to impeach dep gov — Kano Assembly
The Kano State House of Assembly on Saturday dismissed claims of an alleged plan to impeach the Deputy Governor of the state, Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo.
The assembly, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, described the reports as “baseless and misleading,” stressing that no such initiative was ongoing.
Addressing newsmen in Kano, the spokesperson for the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Shawai, said the stories were aimed at creating unnecessary tension in the state.
“There is absolutely no motion or initiative within the House to remove the Deputy Governor.
“These reports are false and should be disregarded by the public. The Deputy Governor continues to serve with full support from the House,” he said.
He urged both the media and the public to verify information before dissemination, emphasizing that accurate reporting is essential for political stability in the state.
Shawai added that the House remained focused on legislative duties and oversight functions, not speculative political manoeuvres.
“Our priority is good governance and serving the people of Kano, not circulating rumours,” he said.
