Insecurity: ADC Spokesman Taunts Tinubu, Says Nigeria Has No Gov’t

A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Youths and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has said the rising insecurity in Nigeria shows that the country has no government.

Abdullahi, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, was reacting to a 2014 tweet in which President Bola Tinubu lamented the spate of insecurity in Nigeria under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The festering Boko Haram attacks on the North East and massacre of innocent citizens is concrete proof that Nigeria has no government.” Tinubu wrote on his X handle, in a tweet dated September 9, 2014.

Tinubu, then an opposition figure in the country, had been critical of the Jonathan-led administration.

Abdullahi, reacting to the old tweet, said the wave of violent attacks and killings in parts of Nigeria today also shows that the country “has no government”.

“The festering insecurity and violent attacks in Kwara, Katsina and other parts of the country, and massacre of innocent Nigerians is concrete proof that Nigeria has no government,” Abdullahi wrote on his X handle.

His comment followed renewed attacks and insecurity in states, including Kwara and Katsina, where many people were killed and others abducted by armed groups in recent weeks.

Daily Trust had reported how at least 75 residents were buried last week Wednesday following a deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A day after, on Thursday, thirteen more bodies were buried as residents continued to recover corpses from bushes.

Several other persons have been declared missing over the incident which has sent wave of shock across the country.

Abdullahi’s reaction has since drawn mixed responses on social media, with some users agreeing with his position and others defending the current administration.

Replying the tweet, an X user, simply identified as Zahrah, with a handle @OxFatii, wrote: “Man is everything he criticised in the past with extra yards.”

PBAT SIGNAL @PBATSignal27:
“Criticism is valid. Grief is valid. But exaggeration that dismisses ongoing efforts and ignores the sacrifices of security personnel is not. Nigeria has a government, and for the first time in a long while, one that is confronting hard truths rather than postponing them. Criticise constructively, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi.”

@thekanoblog: “It is obvious, and everyone already knows that Nigeria has no real government all we have are some people who have turned the nation’s wealth into their family property.”

@MartynscObot: “No government, and yet you are afraid to lead nigerians on a protest to get nigeria a government. You are part of the problem, sir”

MMADUBUCHI @silas_mayor: “Mobilize people to the street. Tweeting will not take the opposition to anywhere. To get power you have to show leadership, you have to show the Nigeria people you can defend their votes. Stand up and act like opposition.”

Olukofe A Ibrahim @olukofe78876: “Condemnation cannot win you an election. Tell us what you want to do differently, as ur party has been in power for 16years, & contributed to the issues we are witnessing today. This government has done a lot to clean up your mess & restructure the nation’s security architecture.”

@Dejasper4Jesus: “Tinubu has done worse than Jonathan. There’s no government in Nigeria at the moment.”

@LsholaSodiq:”Definitely, we have no government & he swore to protect lives & property.. The worst government in the history of N!GERIA. He failed in everything he promised N!gerians.”

Timi Olagunju ESQ @timithelaw: “Sleeping government snoring loudly with sounds of incompetence. But the ball is your court, ADC. Be ‘TRANSPARENT’ in primaries & ‘UNITED’ both in words and deeds. And draw all men and women unto thee. Anything else, you’ll not be different from those standing on a snoring mandate.”

Onyedum Nnamdi A @Andysays4: “What goes around comes around…Tinubu with his Lagos Ibadan media sold lies and propaganda to Nigerians in 2015 and today we are reaping it. APC and Tinubu do not have reason to be in government…”
