Troops kill three ‘terrorists’, arrest alleged drone supplier in North-East
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed three suspected Boko Haram fighters and arrested a 64-year-old alleged drone supplier in separate operations across Adamawa and Borno states.
In Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, troops, working with local vigilantes and hunters, engaged insurgents in an ambush along the Visik River line, a counter-terrorism expert, Zagazola Makama, posted on Thursday.
One of the fighters, identified as Abdullahi Mafa, said to be a former hybrid commander in the area, was killed in the operations.
At Madagali Motor Park, soldiers arrested Dauda Usman Gubula, suspected to be a Boko Haram collaborator and drone supplier. Two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks were recovered from him. He is in custody for interrogation.
At about 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, troops in collaboration with vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force ambushed suspected insurgents conveying logistics at Gwadale deserted village along the Ngoshe-Kirawa road in Adamawa. One fighter was killed, while others fled, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds. Troops recovered a carton of detergent and a bag of salt before returning to their base in Pulka.
In a related operation in Borno State at about 1:13 am on Wednesday, an ambush team made contact with suspected Boko Haram fighters. After a firefight, one insurgent was found dead during a follow-up sweep. Recovered items included a bicycle, half a bag of local gum (karow), and four packs of spaghetti.
The operations were said to be part of ongoing efforts to disrupt insurgents’ supply chains and sustain pressure on their networks in the region. (The Nation)
