BREAKING: Bayelsa assembly confirms Peter Akpe as deputy gov
After weeks of intrigue and suspense, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has named his Chief of Staff, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, as the new Deputy Governor.
The Bayelsa State House of Assembly confirmed and approved the nomination of Akpe, a former lawmaker, as the new deputy governor during its plenary session on Tuesday.
Akpe, a former majority leader of the House of Assembly, is from Edebebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area.
A doctoral holder in Educational Management and a pastor with the Redeemed Church of God, Akpe had been credited with effective and seamless inter-ministerial coordination, policy implementation, monitoring, and strategic planning in the Diri-led administration.
By nominating Akpe as the new deputy governor, Diri has retained the position in Sagbama and Bayelsa West Senatorial district, where the former deputy governor, late Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, hails from.
