How Wike Rekindled My Political Ambition – Oshiomhole

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has narrated how Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) rekindled his hope after he was removed as the national chairman of the APC.

The Senator representing Edo North made the disclosure in Benin City during the commissioning and handing over of 54 construction equipment to the 18 local government chairmen in the state.

He said as the APC national chairman, he won the presidential election for the party by defeating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but “I was abandoned when I was removed”.

He said he became lonely as the party and the people deserted him.

Oshiomhole said, “During the period, people were even afraid of visiting me because they could be termed anti-party.”

According to him, it was during the period he got a call from Wike, then governor of River State, inviting him to Port Harcourt to commission projects.

Oshiomhole said that single honour from Wike rekindled his hope to bounce back in politics, saying Edo will show gratitude to the minister.

Also speaking, Wike advised Nigerians to beware of emergency democrats deceiving the people.

Wike, who was apparently referring to the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), said, “Some people while in office couldn’t come out of their office, but are now buying corn, which they have never done since they were born.

“Now you doing what you haven’t done before by buying corn from the roadside sellers just because you want to deceived the people.

“And now they are claiming to be democrat and man of the people, only because you want to deceive the people.”

He said while the emergency democrats were deceiving the people, President Bola Tinubu is busy commissioning projects in FCT and other places.

According to him, as a PDP member, he couldn’t challenge the FCT election results because he knows that what the president has done earned his party, the APC victory in the local government election.

“That is why we (PDP), takes second in the election and it is better to take second than to fail.

He said going by the FCT council elections, Nigerians now know which party is the ruling party and the opposition party.
