BREAKING: Zamfara Governor, Dauda Lawal defects from PDP to APC
Flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been pulled down at the Zamfra State Government House in Gusau.
This happened moments after the Deputy Governor, Malan Mani Mummuni, announced his defection into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on behalf of the Zamfara government.
Mummuni was elected alongside Governor Dauda Lawal on the platform of the PDP in 2023.
The governor is currently in Saudi Arabia on Lesser Hajj, handing over to Mumini in acting capacity.
Earlier at the State Executive Council meeting, the Acting Governor announced that PDP Stakeholders in Zamfara had concluded plans to join the APC.
Mummuni is currently in a closed-door meeting with the state House of Assembly members at Government House, Gusau.
When contacted over the defection, Salihu Anka, Director General Media and Communications, Government House, Gusau, told Daily Trust that the cabinet of Governor Lawal had defected. (Daily trust)
