PDP Shrinks To 14 Senators As APC Gains 3 More Lawmakers
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate has been further depleted as the Senator representing Adamawa North has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Our correspondent reports that his counterpart from Adamawa Central, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, also dumped the PDP for the APC.
Additionally, the Senator representing Zamfara Central, Senator Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, joined the wave of defections to the ruling party.
These moves come shortly after Senator Ipalibo Banigo, representing Rivers West, also defected to the APC on
With the latest development, the PDP is now left with only 14 Senators in the upper chamber.
In their formal letters, addressed to and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the defecting Senators cited the ongoing division at the national level of the PDP as the primary reason for their exit.
Despite their departure, the Senators expressed gratitude to their former party for providing the platform that allowed them to represent their constituents in the Senate. (Daily trust)
