ADC fixes April 14 for national convention
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the timetable for its nationwide congresses and national convention.
In a statement on Saturday, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC spokesperson, said the exercise is part of the party’s constitutional process to renew leadership structures across all levels.
According to the schedule, the process will begin with polling unit and ward congresses before progressing to local government and state congresses and culminating in the national convention.
The party said the polling unit and ward congresses will hold on April 7, while local government area congresses are slated for April 9.
The party added that state congresses will take place on April 11.
The ADC also said its national convention — where national officers are expected to emerge — will hold on April 14.
“This process forms part of our party’s constitutional responsibility to renew its leadership structures across all levels of the organization, beginning from the polling units and wards through the local government and state levels, culminating in the National Convention,” the statement reads.
The ADC said the congresses form part of efforts to strengthen internal democracy in the party.
Earlier in March, the party commenced free online membership registration across the country ahead of the 2027 general election.
The ADC said the digital platform is part of its ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise launched last month in Abuja.
