Kwara Christians Demand Christian Governor In Government House For 2027
The political landscape in Kwara State is heating up as a powerful group of Christian leaders has officially demanded that a Christian succeed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2027.
Operating under the banner of the Coalition of Concerned Christian Stakeholders, the group is sending a blunt message to the APC, PDP, and other major parties: the era of one-sided religious dominance at the helm of affairs must end for the sake of “equity and fairness.” They are specifically eyeing Kwara South as the battleground to produce the next state leader.
The coalition pointed out that since the return to democracy in 1999, the state has been led by a string of Muslim governors. They argue that it is now time for a shift to ensure the Christian community feels a true sense of belonging in the state’s highest office.
“We have competent, God-fearing, and highly qualified Christians ready to lead this state to greater heights,” a spokesperson for the coalition declared. The group warned that political parties ignoring this “cry for justice” do so at their own peril when the 2027 ballots are cast.
This development has sparked significant discussion within political circles, raising questions about how religious and regional considerations will shape the 2027 electoral cycle.
