2027: Alia Orders Appointees Seeking Elective Positions To Resign
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has directed political appointees in his administration seeking elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign on or before March 30, 2026.
Alia said the directive was aimed at preventing distractions and sustaining the pace of development across the state.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor handed the order while hosting Muslim faithful to an Iftar at the New Banquet Hall of Government House in Makurdi.
The governor stressed that early resignation by affected appointees would enable his administration to promptly fill vacant positions and ensure continuity in governance.
“The earlier those who intend to resign do so, the better, as it will give room to bring in others to sustain the development process,” he said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda, insisting that nothing would derail his mandate to improve the state.
He further called on well-meaning citizens to support his efforts in repositioning Benue for growth and prosperity.
“When you see ongoing road construction and improved civil service operations, that is development,” he stated, adding that his focus remains on improving the welfare of the people.
Alia maintained that his administration is determined to “rewrite the story of Benue for good,” noting that his covenant is with the people of the state.
