Many feared dead as explosion rocks Kwara community
A suspected bomb explosion has rocked Woro community, in Kaiama LGA of Kwara state, reportedly claiming several lives.
A source who spoke to TheCable said a driver identified as Zuberu was among those affected. The source added that a woman was also injured and has been rushed to Ilorin on the directive of the Kaiama LGA council chairman.
Efforts to reach Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, public relations officer of the Kwara state police command, were unsuccessful as of press time.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, although residents suspect the IED may have been detonated by members of Boko Haram.
Last month, no fewer than 75 residents were killed and several houses set ablaze when suspected terrorists attacked the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA.
Following the deadly attack, President Bola Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion in the area. (The Cable)
