Salah To Leave Liverpool After Nine Years
Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The club confirmed the Egyptian winger’s exit in a statement released on Tuesday, stating that the wing wizard with 254 goals for the club has chosen to end his time at the club where he is the third all-time goal scorer.
Liverpool, in the statement, disclosed that Salah, who led the club to win its sixth UEFA Champions League title in 2019, asked to be released from his contract one year before expiration.
“Mohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025-26 season. The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield.”
Salah’s form has dropped drastically, misfiring his games as Liverpool lost in 10 league matches this season. He has featured in only 19 of 31 EPL matches, a situation he wants to end by leaving early, and announcing to fans early.
Labeled Egyptian King, the former Roma winger has won nine trophies with Liverpool, including two EPL titles, one FIFA World Club Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and an FA Cup triumph.
In a video message posted on his social media pages, an emotional Salah revealed that Liverpool is a part of his life despite his unimaginable impending exit.
“Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit.
“I can’t explain it in words to anyone not part of this club. We celebrated victory. We won the most important trophies and we fought together through the hardest time in our life.”
Salah, the club’s all-time record goalscorer in the EPL, with 191 goals till date, could end his stay with another UCL trophy if Liverpool goes all the way this season.
