Woman Who Delivered Quintuplets In Kano Dies
Hafsat Yusuf, the woman who gave birth to quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, on Wednesday, has passed away.
Her husband, Salisu Nafiu, confirmed the development to Daily Trust on Thursday morning, stating that she passed away at the hospital around 1:00 a.m.
He, however, said all five babies—three boys and two girls—are alive and receiving medical care at the facility.
Nafiu did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding her death.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that Hafsat delivered the quintuplets via Caesarean section at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The husband, a tricycle rider, had expressed gratitude for the successful delivery, noting that it was his wife’s ninth childbirth.
He also said medical personnel at the hospital were giving the newborns special attention to ensure their wellbeing.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has announced that it will take full responsibility for the healthcare of the quintuplets.
The state Ministry of Health said the intervention is part of efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare and reduce maternal and infant mortality. (Daily trust)
