Israel Adesanya crashes again as Pyfer KOs him
Joe Pyfer defeated former two-time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC Seattle on Saturday night.
Pyfer stopped Adesanya via technical knockout in the second round of the bout.
Adesanya, also known as “The Last Stylebender,” was returning to the octagon after a 13-month break and entered the fight on a three-fight losing streak.
Pyfer, ranked No. 14 in the division, came into the contest on a three-fight winning run.
The opening round saw both fighters exchange strikes, with Adesanya landing leg kicks while Pyfer mixed in combinations and secured a late takedown.
In the second round, Pyfer gained control after taking the fight to the ground. He advanced position and unleashed a series of punches and elbows.
The referee stopped the contest at 4:18 of the second round after Adesanya was unable to defend himself.
The victory marks another major win for Pyfer, extending his strong run in the division, while Adesanya’s losing streak continues.
