Tinubu At 74: President Opts For Quiet Celebration, Rallies Nigerians On Reform Agenda
Today marks the 74th birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who used the occasion to personally address Nigerians, expressing gratitude and reflecting on his administration’s journey so far.
In a message to the nation, the President said he was filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity to serve, thanking citizens for their goodwill, prayers, and continued support.
He also acknowledged those who took out space in newspapers and paid for airtime on radio and television to celebrate him, describing their gestures as a demonstration of patriotism and solidarity.
Tinubu extended appreciation to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind words, and to Vice President Kashim Shettima for his remarks in honour of his birthday.
The President noted that, in keeping with his tradition of aligning personal celebrations with the mood of the nation, he chose to mark this year’s birthday quietly.
Reflecting on the reform measures introduced by his administration, he acknowledged the challenges and sacrifices involved but expressed optimism that they were beginning to yield results. Despite setbacks linked to the ongoing Middle East crisis, he said there were encouraging signs of progress.
He emphasised that the gains recorded were not solely attributable to his leadership or government, but to the collective effort of Nigerians.
Looking ahead to the third anniversary of his administration, Tinubu expressed confidence in achieving a brighter future for citizens and pledged to confront prevailing challenges with determination.
He called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to building a stronger, more prosperous, and resilient nation capable of taking its rightful place as the pride of Africa.
