Two Killed, Others Injured In Fresh Plateau Attack
Gunmen stormed Ban community opposite Plateau State Polytechnic on Wednesday night, killing two people and injuring two others.
Our correspondent reports that the attack occurred around 11 pm.
Sources said three persons were hit by bullets and rushed to hospital for treatment.
The shooting triggered panic among students of the Polytechnic, especially those living off-campus.
Nanchip Dube, a student of the polytechnic, said the sounds of gunshots threw the campus community into confusion.
In a related incident, earlier in Riyom LGA, Amos Monday, a 27-year-old resident of Du’a village in Kwi Ward, was killed when gunmen ambushed some youths between Baten village in Wereng Ward and Du’a village in Kwi Ward at about 8:15 pm.
Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), confirmed both attacks to newsmen in Jos.
He advised residents of Kwi, Wereng and neighbouring communities in Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom to remain vigilant.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, for comment proved abortive as message sent to him was not responded to as of press time. (Daily trust)
