Kwankwaso welcomes ex-Kano deputy gov Gwarzo into ADC
A 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has welcomed the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, following his defection to the African Democratic Congress.
In a statement issued via his X handle on Monday, Kwankwaso congratulated Gwarzo, saying the move is a significant boost to the party.
PUNCH Online reports that the former deputy governor formally joined the opposition coalition in Kano State on Sunday.
“I heartily congratulate Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, on his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“The grand reception held yesterday in Gwarzo Town has not only strengthened our ranks with his wealth of experience, but has also injected fresh energy and renewed enthusiasm into the party.
“Welcome home, Your Excellency, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo,” the former presidential candidate said.

This development comes shortly after Kwankwaso himself joined the ADC, a move that has triggered a wave of realignments and defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party. (Punch)
