Bandits Storm Ondo Poultry Farm, Kill Owner And Daughter During Kidnap Attempt
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked a poultry farm in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing a woman and her daughter during a violent kidnapping attempt.
SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday at Igushi via Ala, Akure.
Sources said about five heavily armed assailants stormed the farm, opening fire and causing panic among workers.
The attackers reportedly shot dead the farm owner and her daughter on the spot while attempting to abduct others at the facility.
Confirming the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, described the attack as heinous and tragic, adding that security operatives responded swiftly to the distress call.
“The police command in Ondo State strongly condemns the heinous, violent incident at Igushin via Ala, Akure, which led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives,” the police said.
Jimoh added that two victims were successfully rescued during a coordinated operation by security personnel, though he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.
“While two victims were successfully rescued through a swift and coordinated operation, the command expresses deep sorrow over the unfortunate deaths recorded,” Jimoh said.
According to the police, efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
Jimoh urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid investigations.
