No APC guber hopeful has been anointed in Lagos…. but I’ll back eventual pick – Jandor
Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, an aspirant for the 2027 Lagos governorship election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, says he is ready to support a consensus candidate if the party leadership eventually adopts that option.
In a statement signed by Gbenga Ogunleye, his spokesperson, Jandor dismissed ongoing speculations suggesting that a preferred candidate has been endorsed for the Lagos governorship race.
He said no such decision has been taken by the party leadership.
“We restate, in line with the official position of the Lagos State APC leadership as communicated by the State Chairman, that no aspirant has been anointed and that all aspirants will participate in a credible primary election,” the statement reads.
The aspirant, however, said if the party’s leadership resolves to adopt a consensus candidacy, he “will fully align with that decision, irrespective of who emerges”.
“This is a position anchored on his readiness to compete, and a willingness to submit to the collective will of the party,” the statement reads.
Jandor said he remains actively engaged in the race, noting that he is strengthening his grassroots structures and consulting widely with party members across the state.
He further cautioned party members against interpreting individual campaigns or endorsements by political groups as the official stance of the APC leadership.
“JANDOR urges party members not to mistake a campaign by an individual or a political group for their choice aspirant as the party position or that of our Leader. When the party and our Leader speak, I am sure no one will do otherwise,” the statement reads (TheCable)
