‘Bandit’ killed as residents repel attack on Sokoto community
Residents of Achida community in Wurno LGA of Sokoto state have repelled a bandit attack, killing one of the assailants during the confrontation.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the incident occurred when armed bandits stormed the community but were met with resistance from residents and local vigilante.
The villagers reportedly mobilised quickly and engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat after a brief clash.
During the encounter, one of the suspected bandits was killed, while others fled the area, some believed to have sustained injuries.
Sources cited by the publication commended the residents and vigilante for their “swift and coordinated response” in defending the community.
Security authorities are expected to intensify patrols and carry out follow-up operations to track the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area. (TheCable)
