I’ll defeat Sule, Wadada in free, fair primaries – Ex-IGP Adamu
A former Inspector-General of Police and frontline governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has assured the people of the state that he has the capacity to defeat Governor Abdullahi Sule and his preferred successor, Senator Ahmed Wadada in a free and fair primaries.
Arewa PUNCH reports that Adamu stated this while addressing his supporters in the Karu Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
He expressed confidence that if the party plays its part by conducting free and fair primaries for the governorship contest in the state during the forthcoming APC primaries, he would emerge victorious.
The Director of Operations and Command of the Ex-IGP governorship campaign organisation, Adams Useni, who spoke on behalf of his principal during the mega rally to drum support for his governorship ambition, said the Ex-IGP has been accepted by the people of Nasarawa State.
He said, “We are here today in Karu, the people of Karu have shown love, they have shown concern, they have shown that they are for the former IGP.
We are here to support them, and to show solidarity and we are asking for a free, fair democracy, we are asking for people’s participation.”
Useni further expressed confidence in the ex-IGP Adamu’s leadership prowess, having worked to the level of being an Inspector-General of Police, noting that his experience will greatly help in tackling the issues of insecurity in the state.
Also speaking, the Director of Contact and Mobilisation of the ex-IGP Campaign Organisation, Hon. Isa Nathaniel said the campaign organisation had received more than 3,000 groups from the Karu LGA of the state seeking to organise the rally to show support and solidarity to Adamu
“They are here to show that the retired IGP is the man to beat, he is an unbeatable choice and he will emerge as the governor of the state in 2027. He will work with Mr President to have a safer Nasarawa State”
Nathaniel noted that the anointing of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as Governor Abdullahi Sule’s preferred successor in 2027 remains his personal decision, and therefore not binding on other card carrying members of the APC in the state.
“During the forthcoming primary election, we will come out in large numbers to stand behind the ex-IGP Adamu in order to ensure that he succeeds,” he emphasised. (Punch)
