Troops Kill 18 Terrorists In Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (North East), have neutralised 18 terrorists during coordinated operations along the Borno–Yobe border.

The Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

He said the terrorists met their end during offensive operations conducted under Operation Desert Sanity V at identified enclaves in Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari, as well as other areas around the Bulabulin Forest and the Kamadogu Yobe stretch.

According to him, the operation was executed by the troops of Sector 2 in collaboration with elements of the Stabilisation Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, with close air support from the Air Component Command.

Uba said the Air Component played a critical role by providing sustained Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), enabling precise target acquisition and real-time coordination with ground forces.

“On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops made contact with the terrorists at Malam Shiri village and engaged them using coordinated tactical manoeuvres. Eleven terrorists were neutralised, while several others fled with injuries,” he said.

He added that troops destroyed the terrorists’ life-support structures and recovered nine AK-47 rifles, three PKT anti-aircraft machine guns, five motorcycles, assorted ammunition and materials used for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

In a related operation along the Timbuktu axis on the Wajiroko–Sabongari corridor, Uba said troops engaged the insurgents in another fierce encounter.

He said seven terrorists were neutralised during the engagement, while blood trails and body parts suggested higher casualties.

Items recovered from the scene include AK-47 rifles, RPG tubes, a large cache of ammunition, bandoliers and communication equipment.

The statement added that the Nigerian Air Force carried out precision airstrikes on identified terrorist locations and fleeing fighters, further weakening their operational capacity.

Uba said troops, in collaboration with local volunteer forces, are currently conducting follow-up operations along the Forfor, Multe and Wajiroko axes to track down fleeing insurgents and prevent regrouping.(Daily trust)
