Mudryk Handed Four-Year Ban For Anti-Doping Violation
Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, has received a four-year ban from the English Football Association for failing a drug test in 2024.
The Ukrainian has been serving a provisional suspension since December 2024 for testing positive to meldonium, a banned substance, while on international duty with Ukraine.
Mudryk has however appealed the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, according to media reports.
Mudryk joined Chelsea for €70 million in January 2023 but was suspended after almost two years with the Blues. The 25 years old was eventually charged by the English Football Association (FA) after his second urine sample was confirmed positive for the banned substance last year.
The FA duly handed the former Shakhtar Donetsk a four years ban after Mudryk has been out of action for 17 months. He has over two years left to serve, but CAS confirmed that the winger has dragged the English FA to its court to overturn the decision. The international sports court however confirmed that no date has been fixed for a decision on the matter submitted in February.
“CAS confirms it has received an appeal by Mykhailo Mudryk against the FA, filed on 25 February 2026. The Parties are currently exchanging written submissions, and a hearing is yet to be scheduled.”
Mudryk will be represented by lawyers that successfully reduced the doping ban handed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba from four years to 18 months.
