2027: Those Expecting Easy Polls Deceiving Themselves – Gov Radda

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State on Friday cautioned political actors against complacency ahead of the 2027 elections, saying any expectation of an easy contest is misplaced.

Radda spoke at the Government House, Katsina, while receiving his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to seek re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The forms were presented by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Murtala Aliyu Kankia, who facilitated their purchase and distribution under a consensus arrangement adopted by the party in the state.

The governor described the consensus process as a sign of political maturity and unity among party members, but stressed that it must be backed by hard work at the grassroots.

“This is not the time to relax, anyone who believes there will be no challenges in the coming elections is only deceiving himself,” he said.

He urged candidates who emerged through the consensus arrangement to return to their constituencies, mend fences with fellow aspirants, and strengthen ties with voters.

According to him, sustained grassroots engagement remains key to electoral success, as he called on party faithful to reconnect with the people and stay responsive to their needs.

Radda also commended members of the consensus committees for what he described as a smooth and credible process, noting that their efforts had strengthened unity within the party.

Earlier, Kankia said the distribution of forms followed an agreed framework that helped maintain peace and order in the party in Katsina.

“We have presented and distributed the forms in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere, unlike in some states where the process becomes chaotic,” he said.

He added that reports from the Katsina and Funtua senatorial zones had been submitted, while that of the Daura zone was being awaited.
