Dembele’s Strike Seals Consecutive UCL Final For Champions PSG

Ousmanne Dembele scored the all-important early goal to seal Paris Saint-Germain’s passage into the UEFA Champions League final at the expense of Bayern Munich in their semi-final match on Tuesday.

The goal sealed a 6-5 aggregate scoreline in favour of the reigning UCL champions who stunned the Allainz Arena with the early goal in a match that eventually ended 1-1 thanks to Harry Kane’s brilliant late goal.

Both teams were expected to put on another spectacle in this encounter after the nine-match blockbuster last week, and made one change each to their starting lineup. Konrad Laimer was favoured ahead of Alphonse Davies, while Fabian Ruiz replaced injured Achraf Hakimi.

It took just three minutes for PSG to punish Bayern’s sleepy defence with a frst time finish from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s cutback into space where Dembele was waiting to slam home his third goal in the tie, and out PSG 1-0 ahead.

Both sides continued to carve out chances, but Bayern Munich were denied a penalty following a blatant Joao Neves handball in the box, and the referee failed to show Nuno Mendes a second yellow card for another handball.

Vincent Kompany’s side improved in the second half but could not break down PSG’s workaholic defence led by captain Marquinhos, while Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola all went close for PSG at the other end. Laimer, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane were all denied by PSG goalkeeper matvei safonov.
Kane eventually breach the goal with his 14th UCL goal of the season with a well-placed finish, bu it was scant consolation for the home fans as Bayern continue the wait for another UCL final since winning the trophy in 2020.

It is PSG’s second consecutive final, and the third in the club’s history. Luis Enrique’s side will bid to become the first team since Real Madrid to successfully defend their UCL title when they face Arsenal at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on May 30.
