Turaki-led PDP dares Wike over threat to seal party office
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki has challenged Nyesom Wike to carry out his threat to shut down the group’s operational office.
The confrontation follows comments made by Wike earlier this week during his monthly media chat, where he questioned the legitimacy of the Turaki-led faction and demanded that it operate openly if it considered itself authentic.
The FCT minister also threatened to seal any building being used by the faction for party activities.
Responding to the remarks, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a former PDP deputy national publicity secretary and private principal secretary to Turaki, said the group already operates from a known location.
“We have been operating from an office. He knows the location; he should come there and take over the office if he can,” Abdullahi said.
“It is a temporary office, but we are meeting there and carrying out our functions.”
Abdullahi further warned that the worsening internal crisis within the PDP could push the country toward instability.
He described the situation as moving Nigeria towards a Hobbesian state of anarchy “where life is brutish, short, and nasty”.
Meanwhile, Ini Ememobong also criticised Wike, describing the minister as delusional over his comments about the faction’s financial operations.
“His delusional boast of dealing with banks that will open accounts for us is delusional, as he is already aware that we are operating accounts of the party, which is why his group of friends are receiving money through private accounts,” he said.
The latest exchange highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP amid ongoing leadership disputes and internal power struggles.
