Security guard abducts employer’s two children
A private security guard, identified as Sani Abdulrahman, has allegedly abducted two children of his employer, simply identified as Danjuma, in Minna, the Niger State capital.
The victims, Umar and Anas, are said to be sons of the employer from different mothers.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the suspect allegedly took advantage of his employer’s absence and took the children away from home.
Sources said Abdulrahman reportedly told family members he was taking the boys out to celebrate the Eid festivities, but failed to return with them.
A source familiar with the incident disclosed that family members initially searched extensively for the children and visited several hospitals within Minna metropolis, fearing they might have been involved in an accident.
Narrating the incident, the children’s father, Alhaji Danjuma, said he later received calls from individuals claiming that the children were being held in Erena Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
“Later in the evening, some people called me, telling me that my two children were in Erena Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State and demanded ransom for their release,” he said.
Danjuma said the matter had been reported to the police and the Niger State Government for necessary action.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Command, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, said investigations were ongoing to locate the children and apprehend the suspect.
According to him, “The incident occurred about 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The security man pretended that he was taking the children for Salah celebration in town, but since then they have not returned.
“Investigation has commenced and efforts to locate the children are ongoing.”
The police spokesman assured that the command was working to rescue the children and bring those responsible to justice.
