Troops arrest ’10 terrorist informants’ in Niger state
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspected terrorist informants and collaborators during a fighting patrol in Borgu LGA of Niger state.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reports that the operation was conducted at about 10:05am on Thursday by troops operating from the forward operating base (FOB) in Audu Fari.
Makama said the troops carried out a fighting patrol across several communities, including Tungan Yaboye, Kumble, Sabon Gari, Dogon Ruwa, Lambu, Tungan Isah, Rafi Maigudu, Swashi, Guffanti, Kwanan Demu Junction, Papiri and Gallah.
The publication said the patrol, aimed at flushing out suspected terrorist elements and dismantling their support networks, led to the clearance of hideouts across the affected areas.
Makama said no direct contact was made with armed terrorist groups during the operation.
The publication said the suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation and subsequent action.
