Police arrest bandits who killed three FRSC officers
Officers and men of Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Kebbi State have arrested three suspects believed to be members the Mamudawa bandit group who killed three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at Illo town in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Commissioner, Kebbi State Police Command, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, paraded the suspects before newsmen on Wednesday.
Those paraded at the Command Headquarters in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, were Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Abubakar.
Hadejia said they were arrested on a motorcycle while heading to Lolo town to buy foods for their colleagues in the forest.
According to the Commissioner, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were linked to the movement around the area during the attack that claimed the lives of the FRSC personnel at Illo town.
The Commissioner of Police also stated that members of the PMF on special duty along Ka’oje-Bakin Ruwa Road in the same Bagudo LGA intercepted and arrested four suspects identified as Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu, and Yahaya Shehu.
He assured that these suspects are being investigated over their involvement in armed bandits activities within Soda Forest in Bagudo, adding that the case is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The police boss also disclosed that some vigilante members of Zazzagawa Village in Arugungu LGA said one Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa Village was arrested on suspicion of providing logistical support to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
Preliminary investigation, according to CP Hadejia, revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in supplying foodstuffs and soft drinks to criminal elements.
He said the suspect on several occasions conveyed one Adamu Umar, a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorists group, from Zazzagawa Village to their enclave.
