2027: APC mobilises diaspora for Tinubu’s reelection
The United States chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress has intensified calls for greater mobilisation of Nigerians in the diaspora, saying the support and influence of citizens living abroad will be crucial to the party’s fortunes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The chapter also commended recent efforts by the party leadership and members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to foster unity among APC supporters abroad, describing the initiative as a strategic move capable of strengthening the party’s grassroots reach and international image.
In a statement on Thursday, the Chairman of the APC-USA and Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Mobilisation, Taiwo Balofin, praised the APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda.
He also commended the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodimma, for championing unity among party members in the Diaspora.
Balofin said their emphasis on effective communication of government reforms and achievements, as well as increased grassroots mobilisation among Nigerians abroad, would further consolidate support for President Bola Tinubu and position the party favourably ahead of the next election cycle.
“Their call for unity and effective communication of government reforms and achievements is a welcome development that will strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and contribute significantly to the party’s success ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The APC-USA chairman also commended the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for her efforts in promoting collaboration and engagement among Nigerians living overseas.
According to him, the commission’s initiatives had helped create stronger networks among Nigerians abroad and enhanced their participation in national development.
Balofin assured that APC leaders and members across the diaspora remained committed to working together to positively project the image of the party and showcase the achievements of the Tinubu administration on the global stage.
He, however, urged the party leadership to provide timely support and responses to diaspora members whenever necessary, noting that such assistance would enhance their capacity to effectively carry out party assignments and responsibilities.
The APC-USA chairman further called on Nigerians abroad to introduce innovative ideas and initiatives capable of strengthening unity, fostering a common sense of purpose and promoting democratic collaboration within the forum.
“Collective efforts and sustained mobilisation remain essential to advancing the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda and ensuring continued support for the administration’s development programmes,” he added.
Nigerians in the Diaspora have increasingly become an important constituency for political parties, contributing to policy advocacy, campaign mobilisation and international engagement. Although the country is yet to implement Diaspora voting, parties have continued to court Nigerians abroad, viewing them as strategic partners in shaping public opinion and projecting their agendas globally. The APC has, in recent years, expanded its outreach to Diaspora chapters as part of efforts to strengthen support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 elections. (Punch)
