Police arrest man seen assaulting woman in viral video
Operatives of the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) of the Abia State Police Command have arrested a man seen physically assaulting a woman in a viral video that circulated widely on social media.
The arrest was carried out by officers led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emeka Amanchukwu following credible intelligence received by the unit.
A photograph of the suspect’s arrest was posted on Facebook on June 20, indicating that he was apprehended in the Ogbor Hill area of Abaa
Sources said the police acted swiftly on the intelligence, tracking down and arresting the suspect.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue,” a source said.
The VCRU reiterated its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are identified, arrested and brought to justice.
