Singer Lionel Richie unable to finish concert after feeling dizzy
Legendary American singer and songwriter Lionel Richie was forced to end a concert in Minnesota earlier than planned after falling ill during his performance, leaving fans concerned about his health.
Richie was performing his popular hit Dancing on the Ceiling at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul when he reportedly began experiencing dizziness. Videos shared on social media showed the veteran entertainer continuing with the performance despite appearing uncomfortable before eventually sitting down on stage.
The singer later moved to the piano to perform another fan-favourite song, Three Times a Lady. However, after a brief period, he took an unscheduled break from the stage. Moments later, his saxophonist, Dino Soldo, informed the audience that Richie was not feeling well and would be unable to continue the concert.
Fans in attendance reportedly applauded and offered their support after learning about the singer’s condition. Many also took to social media to express concern and send well wishes to the music icon, hoping for a speedy recovery.
The concert marked the opening night of Richie’s latest tour with the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire. The highly anticipated tour is scheduled to include 26 performances across several cities in the United States and is expected to run through mid-August.
As of the time of filing this report, no official update had been released regarding the exact nature of Richie’s illness or whether any future tour dates would be affected. Organisers have also not announced any postponements or cancellations.
Richie remains one of the most influential figures in global music, with a career spanning more than five decades. He rose to fame as a member of the Commodores before launching a successful solo career that produced numerous chart-topping hits, including Hello, All Night Long (All Night), Say You, Say Me, and Endless Love.
Over the years, the Grammy Award-winning artist has sold millions of records worldwide and earned recognition for his contributions to pop, soul and R&B music. His performances continue to attract large audiences across generations.
